Buffon's Hypothesis - Origin of the Earth - UPSC

Georges-Louis Leclerc, Comte de Buffon was a French scientist who gave a hypothesis about origin of the earth, Buffon believed that a huge comet smashed into the Sun, and the liquid spelled out of the Sun and over the time the liquid condensed, and the big pieces became planets and the small pieces became satellite and asteroids and the rest lost in space.
